About Dr. Johnson
Trained in the United Kingdom and Australia, Dr. Johnson is a Bayside based Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in the management of children’s orthopaedics and adult trauma.
Paediatric orthopaedics includes conditions of the foot and ankle, knees and hips, sports injury, limb deformities, limb length discrepancies, neuromuscular conditions and trauma.
Dr. Johnson believes that good communication with patients is essential. It is important that patients understand the nature of their condition and the treatment options available to them.
In this way, patients can be informed and engaged in the decision making process throughout their treatment journey.
Services
Foot & Ankle
Foot and ankle problems in children can be congenital or acquired. Foot and ankle conditions can often be treated with casting or orthotics but some conditions may require surgical intervention.
Knee Problems
Often secondary to injury, ligament and cartilage problems often require surgery. Knee problems can also occur due to abnormal tracking of the patella and rotational abnormalities of the lower limb.
Hip Problems
Paediatric hip conditions commonly treated by Dr. Johnson include developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), Perthes disease and slipped capital femoral epiphysis.
Limb Deformities
Limb deformities and limb length discrepancies can be congenital or acquired. Surgery may be required to correct them.
Neuromuscular Issues
Neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy can cause imbalance and weakness of the muscles which can lead to orthopaedic problems.
Trauma & Fractures
Dr. Johnson treats fractures in paediatric and adult patients. Not all fractures require surgery, although some will require surgery for the best outcome.
